The INEQE Review will examine whether PCI’s safeguarding arrangements are properly governed, competently staffed, and effectively implemented in practice. Therefore the survey has been structured to ask specific questions about church governance, competence of staff and volunteers and operational type questions about how things work in practice. The answers to the questions will then form the basis of the Review Document. Essentially, the following questions summarise the sections within the survey.
- Does PCI have effective governance and accountability mechanisms that ensure safeguarding is actually owned and acted upon by those with responsibility for the Church?
- Does PCI have the right people, with the right skills, qualifications, training and support, to discharge their safeguarding responsibilities?
- Is there a reliable connection between PCI’s safeguarding policies, central leadership and what actually happens when a safeguarding concern arises locally?
In addition, the survey has been adapted to reflect the range of people they are seeking views from… members, children and young people, victims and survivors, staff members, safeguarding staff and they’ve indicated a dedicated governance survey will follow.
